Heavy Weights Aren’t Just For Dudes… Women NEED them!

Working out with heavy weights is key

PLEASE NOTE **I need to reveal that the caption on the above picture really isn’t what she said. The irony is she DOES lift heavy weights, and doesn’t respond like that at all. The heavy intense weight training makes a huge difference!

“I don’t want to add any more weight, I don’t want to get bulky…”

“I don’t want to workout with heavy weights, I don’t want to get that manly look…”

“Don’t make me leg press that, MY LEGS WILL GET HUGE!!”

Whew!!

I used to hear this garbage all the time. Thank God, I don’t have to hear this quite as much since I’ve been training  mostly the same champion clients for anywhere from 1-10 years.

Anyone that has worked with me….Scratch that…

Clients that I continue to work with always see increased results with intense (heavy weight) workloads. This is especially the case if they have tried to use lighter weight to “get more toned”, “get more definition” as well as “build long and lean muscles”.

I’m using these quotes and the word tried because light weights WILL NOT DO THAT.

Muscles do not change their genetically influenced attachments and or length by doing heavy or light weights.

Sorry. That’s just how it is.

If you think that “burn” by doing 30-50 reps is going to sculpt and tone and define the areas that you have a problem with, you are going to be disappointed.

I am taking my time to write this so that if you still believe this stuff, I can save you disappointment and get you on the road to success!

Yes, there are always some that try to hold on to using very light weight, but after getting frustrated with minimal results, I am able to get them to use moderately heavy weights.

And when I say moderately heavy, I’m not talking about grinding out 2-6 reps, I’m talking about weight that will bring them to failure within about 8-12 repetitions.

So if your results are minimal, try adding some weight and bring up the intensity. I guarantee that you will get more results.

It will get you stronger, make you work harder which will burn more calories as well as increase the bone strengthening /density benefits that are so vital to women. If you don’t get the fat loss or muscle definition you want, then you must take a serious look at altering your lifestyle and diet.

This is actually the 2nd part of a post I wrote on my blog. Check it out plus Patty Zariello’s comments to it by clicking here or on the picture below.

Thanks!
